CHARLOTTE, N.C.--(Business Wire)--
 Kingfisher Capital, LLC announced today that it has purchased the assets of the
Charlotte, North Carolina office of WealthTrust Advisors, LLC. Kingfisher
Capital is an independent, SEC registered investment adviser, providing money
management for select individuals, families and institutions. The firm was
formed in 2009 by its Managing Partners HK Hallett and Alex Miles, who formerly
served as Managing Directors at WealthTrust Advisors in Charlotte.
"The move re-establishes our legacy as a thoughtful and independent, money
management boutique," said HK Hallett, the firm`s Chief Operating Officer. Mr.
Hallett, who co-founded the original incarnation of the advisory firm back in
1989, acknowledged that after a five-year partnership with a larger
Tennessee-based wealth management group, he thought it was important going
forward to secure the firm`s flexibility and independence.
"Kingfisher Capital will continue to offer a range of investment management
services with a particular focus on value-oriented and opportunistic equity
strategies and bespoke income portfolios," said Alex Miles. Mr. Miles, the
firm`s Chief Investment Officer, brings unique experience to his role with the
company, having management responsibilities for the firm`s flagship Value
Opportunity strategy for the past 5 years, in addition to creating and serving
as Portfolio Manager for certain, alternative investment funds focused on water,
sustainability, and infrastructure themes.
Kingfisher Capital remains one of the few money and investment advisory houses
in its region focused entirely on building investment portfolios internally from
the bottom up. These days, with many other investment shops seeming to turn to
mechanical, financial planning tools and allocating client capital to outside
funds and managers, the firm`s foundation remains entrenched in investment
research, security selection, and transparency to best serve its loyal and
expanding investor base.
Kingfisher Capital has retained key employees of the Charlotte office in the
transaction including Senior Research Analyst, Brian Smyth, Director of Business
Development, William Grasty, Operations Manager and Head Trader, Virginia
"Ginny" Starnes, and Client Services Manager, Carol Layton.
